EPITOME is the latest book written by Mohammad Radzi Hanif, published by the Shah Alam Gallery (GSA). Most of the images showcased in this book are the result of the gallery exhibition held in July 2018. This book is published in conjunction with the launch of GSA tangkapGambar showcase with the title EPITOME – Personal Perspective.

Radzi Hanif first and second book is essentially Visual Documentation of his photographs compiled from his collection of images as a celebration of the obscure and insignificant. This third book discusses the photo works of five different artists (his included), their personal perspective from the selection of pictures, subject-matter, and stories they tell.

EPITOME the book is essentially an extension to a photo exhibition by five photographers (four with graphic design background) sharing their personal attributes to telling stories and expressing art. The exhibition’s central theme is the selected images from personal perspective taken from the locations far and wide, with emphasis on showcasing visual events, or subjects which radiate charm and appeal to the artists. There are many angles to take a spot and take a picture that could be important, interesting, and memorable. There are several thoughts invading the senses (conscious or unconscious) when one clicks a shutter recording a scene, an event, a place, or a face to be recognized sometimes later, with constant gazing and repeated viewings.

Each photographer picks a selection of photos which represent his interest or taste from his own preferred environment. These are noteworthy subject-matters in a visual study of assorted objects, scenes, or events; natural or man-made; deliberate or unintentional; extrinsic or otherwise. The images have an inherent voice which is often attached to a time seen through a beginning or an ending, an aftermath, a prelude to kaleidoscopic experiences which inherently shape our memory or reasoning. The photographs are in colour or black and white.

Photo Images can’t talk, but it tell stories. It is a representation of words, voices, which communicate intention, messages, to express and manifest.
